Ultradad. Listened to this podcast last night. It’s an interesting subject as to why we want to run Ultra’s. Something I still haven’t quite decided yet, I just Know I want to…
Met some very interesting Ultra characters on an event I did earlier this year in Vietnam (http://www.4deserts.com/beyond/vietnam/) and that motivated me to want to do more. I only completed the first 130km stage before ankle tendonitis got the best of me, this only makes me more determined. My first full running event is a half marathon on 24 August and then the North Face 100 in Singapore on October 4. Really looking forward to that.
On the fund raising subject, I wanted to share my experiences with raising funds for our chosen charity for the RTP Vietnam event. We found an online site called “JustGiving” that allowed us to create a great fund-raising profile AND collect donations via credit cards as well as ‘offline’. Our team profile page here: http://www.justgiving.com/RTP-Vietnam We raised just over GBP 30,000 (USD: 59,550) and were very happy with the results. Just Giving have a US-based site too. http://www.firstgiving.com.
Anyway, once again. Wanted to say thanks for the podcast. Really helping with motivation to get mileage done and the tips are excellent.
All the best from Singapore, Jason
Hi Ultra Dad. I recently started listening to your podcast and really enjoyed your 30 tips for 30 miles. I was on the edge of my seat hoping to hear that you made it to your son’s swim meet in time. Yay!! Good dad!
I’m not an ultra runner, at least not yet. Still working my way up to 10k at this point (and hey, you’re Canadian aren’t you? What’s with the miles?
) Right now, I’m training for the Apple Sprint Triathlon in August, and then hopefully, the World Wide Half Marathon in October.
Most of the podcasts I listen to are in the US or the UK so I was especially excited to hear that you are close to home! You have a nice style and I am looking forward to the next podcast.
Keep ‘em coming!

UltraDad - just finishing up all of your episodes, enjoyed the 30 tips for 30 miles including the ending.
I am working on doing my first 50 miler possibly the Superior 50. I have done a couple of 50ks but they don’t really seem like an ultra to me just a longer marathon so I am not sure I am ready. I am currently listening to your “Why run an Ultra” episode, will be curious to see if you get to my reason (not sure i know why:-)
Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to get out a podcast on the ultra distance.
Looking forward to the next podcast.
Mike
