Hi. I’m enjoying your show and I think it’s getting better every episode. I’m not an ultrarunner, just a 50-something born again jogger but I like to listen to podcasts like this because they inspire me. I must admit I skip past the ultranews simply because it really doesn’t have that all much relevance for me, living as I do in Scotland! I’m listening to your show right now and waiting for you to finally go head-over-heels and land on your dog. That trail sounds wicked! All the best, Gordon, Isle of Tiree, Scotland
Hi, just got tuned in to the podcast after the link was added to runningpodcasts!
Really enjoyed the last show, you can feel the distance !! I like the news bits and also the recommendations, I need a bit of fitness at the moment but love to run trails so doing the ultra thing would be the next step. Im doing a 100km race as a team of four next month, the whole teams needs to travel together so its not a relay, we all have to do the distance. Im enjoying the training and if you caught edition 9 of my podcast you will see tripping on roots whilst concentrating on the podcasting is not uncommon so Im with you on that one .. amybe io need to get a dog to help the miles go by!! Ive been doing my podcast for 6 months and still havent worked out what to really do with it, but its gradually settling into some sort of format and making it it keeps me focussed on getting out for a few runs and not focussed on the effort of getting through the run!
Keep up the good work! Steve
I have just started trail running recently. I have also just found your podcast. I think the timing was perfect. You have a lot of good advice, some of it coming while you are running. My one goal is to run a marathon, but as I am running more trails I can see my goal eventually increase to the Ultra level. It is too bad Trails and Tribs has ended, I think your and their podcast would have complimented each other.
I thought it was ironic, you were talking about you and your dog as I was listening on my way to the trail today and for the first time I seen a girl and her dog running the trail.
One last point, it is great to hear a fellow Canadian talking running.
I really have enjoyed all the podcasts so far. I recently started trail running and found your podcast at the same time. Thanks for all the great advice, some of it coming as you are running (i.e. watch for roots, they hurt).
It is really great to hear a fellow Canadian talking about running.
My goal right now is to complete a marathon. I think due to your podcast and Trials and Tribs, my goal after that will be an Ultra.
Keep up the great work.
Marty
Good show! Excellent advice about trail running. Those roots always jump out at you. I’ve always wondered if it’s better to hit the deck than to try to recover and risk injury. Thanks for the show.
